Donna Sheryn Nagassar (nee Unger)
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and loving friend, Donna Sheryn Nagassar, on Thursday April 29, 2021 at the age of 74 years.
Sheryn was born March 14, 1947, in Olds, Alberta, to Ruby and John Unger. She attended school in Olds, then moved to Edmonton, where she received her Nursing Aide certificate. She relocated to Calgary where she worked at the Foothills Hospital until she left nursing to raise her three children. Above all else, family was most important to Sheryn. She kept in close contact with her immediate family, as well as her many cousins and extended family.
After her children were grown, she began to focus on herself, learning as much as she could about the world, different cultures, customs, foods, beliefs. She loved teaching everyone and anyone who wanted to listen, always excited to share her knowledge from personal life experiences and books and documentaries she immersed herself into.
She cherished her grandsons more than anything; they brought out her silliness. Her kids filled her with joy and pride. Her friends and family were her inspiration and strength. She has always been a ray of sunshine and a breath of fresh air to everyone in her life. Music was in her soul; dancing to the beat of her own drum, she was determined to live her life to the fullest, always. She was one of a kind!
Sheryn is survived by her loving children, daughter Camilla; daughter Rebecca (Scott); son Rory (Tessa); grandsons Gage and Jaxson; brothers Terry and Eirah. She was predeceased by her parents.
