Obituary for Donald Charles Boileau "Don" Clarke

Donald Charles Boileau Clarke (“Big D”)
December 12, 1945 – August 21, 2019

Born in Whitewood, SK; to Priscilla and Charles Clarke.

Much loved husband of 35 years to Patricia (“Pattie”) Eleanor Clarke (nee Calcutt); youngest brother to Yvonne (deceased), Beryle, Josephine, Reay, and Geraldine. Loved and loved by his sons, Kent, Dean, and Jordan; stepchildren Brenda, Cathi, Debbie, Reggie, and Trevor; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and close friends.

Don “drove truck” for CP Rail, Motorways, and Freightways; and logged over two million accident-free highway miles in his 40+ years on the road.

Don was a simple, hard-working man; a gentle spirit; who was kind-hearted and always had a warm chuckle for everyone he met. His sense of humour and gregarious laugh (“snort, snort”) always brought happiness to those around him. He loved the mountains, his Ford truck, and the Calgary Flames; but most importantly he loved his family. Don peacefully “rode off into the sunset” on the evening of August 21, surrounded by family and friends; and listening to his beloved Carter Family music.

While “Big D” will be greatly missed, he did his best to make our lives better, and in this there is joy…

A Celebration of Don’s life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #275 (755 40 St. SE, Calgary, AB) on Oct 12, 2019 at 1:00pm.
