Obituary for Dennis Abe Voth

Name: Dennis A. Voth
Date of Birth: August 16, 1952- Date of Death: April 22, 2022

Early on Friday, April 22, 2022, a very dear husband, father and grandfather left us to walk with his Heavenly Father.

Dennis was born in Morden, MB, to Abram and Marie Voth. He grew up as the second youngest of 7 children, with five older sisters and one younger brother. In 1969, he moved with his parents and brother to Calgary where he finished high school in Bowness. He met Nola in 1972 and they married in 1974. They were blessed with 4 children and was an involved father to Jeremy, Carissa, Loren and Jolene. He enjoyed traveling and the family spent many years camping where many great memories were made. The family grew with the addition of Shauna, Jim, Kristen and Sean. Dennis became Grandpa 7 times over with the births of Quinn, Paige, Autum, Evelyn, Rylie, Archer and Callie. Almost enough for a baseball team!

Many hours were spent coaching baseball for his children, as well as other kids when his own outgrew the sport. He coached for Babe Ruth baseball and took the 16 year old all-star team to the Western Finals, finishing in second place. Many additional hours were spent watching and supporting his children’s and grandchildren’s multiple sports and activities.

He was an active member of each church he attended serving on councils, singing in the choir, helping with social events, and taking the lead on the rebuild of the Cambrian Heights Baptist Church building. For 15 years, he was one of the original members of the Redeemed Quartet. The quartet traveled and performed throughout Western Canada and Colorado.
Dennis’ first job was delivering furnaces to residences. This started him in the field of construction where he moved into framing, siding, glasswork, glazing, and other ventures all throughout Alberta in the 70’s. He began his first company as a general contractor in the early 80’s developing stores and office spaces. He moved into the wire shelving business in the early 90’s which grew to become quite successful. He started Classic Closets and Glass in 2001 and expanded to Kelowna in 2017.

Dennis leaves behind his devoted wife of 47 and a half years, Nola (nee Dyck), as well as his children Jeremy (Shauna) Voth of Airdrie, AB; Carissa (James) Peach of Wassener, Netherlands; Loren (Kristen) Voth of Leduc, AB; Jolene (Sean) Haddad of Calgary, AB; and his special dog Tank. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren (Quinn, Paige, Autum, Evelyn, Rylie, Archer & Calina), siblings (Rosaline, Leona, Sylvia & Carol), as well as numerous relatives and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents (Abram & Marie), his brother (Paul), and his sister (Lois).

His passions were music, camping, spending time in the mountains, and a love of animals. Dennis was a generous man, always willing to give his time to help others and will be remembered for his sense of humour, laughter, and bear hugs. He will be missed and never forgotten.

On Dennis’ behalf, the family would like to extend sincere thanks to the tireless staff of the Foothills Medical Centre ICU for his care during the last few months. As well, gratitude to the team at Cochrane Home Care for their support over the last several years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bow Valley Baptist Church (54 W Aarsby Rd, Cochrane, AB) on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm.

In Dennis’ memory, donations would be gratefully accepted to Diabetes Canada.
