Debra Ann Jean Winchester-Prodahl, age 63, passed away peacefully on February 4th, 2020, at Foothills Country Hospice. She was born June 9th, 1956, in Barrie, Ontario, to Dudley Charles McCleave Winchester and Alice Jean Winchester. She spent her last days surrounded by family and friends. Debra is survived by her husband, Doug W. Prodahl; daughter; Melissa A. Fraser (Joseph A. Fraser) and her sisters, Margaret Clow and Heather Holt. She is predeceased by her daughter, Lee-Ann D. Prodahl (2018) and her parents, Dudley Charles McCleave Winchester and Alice Jean Winchester.

Debra married the love of her life, Doug on May 18th, 1991. Their daughter Melissa was already in the picture, born in 1989. Debra and Doug welcomed their second child, Lee-Ann in 1993. From 1960 to 1981, she enjoyed the many locations she had visited. She lived in Germany (1960), Edmonton, AB (1963), Petawawa, ON (1966), Ottawa, ON(1969), and Calgary, AB 1972). She graduated from Central Memorial High School (Calgary, AB) in 1974. Debra traveled a lot throughout her life. Visiting several unique locations, including Egypt (1981).

Eventually she settled down in Calgary, AB with Doug and their daughter Melissa. Both Debra and Doug’s children were born in Calgary, AB. Debra became a committed stay-at-home mother to her two beautiful children Melissa and Lee-Ann. She enjoyed many activities and events throughout her life. Some of those included cheering her daughters on at sporting events, going skiing with her friends and family, camping and traveling. She enjoyed crafting, knitting, painting and drawing. She always had pets to adore, they made her very happy. Her fondest trip was taking her daughters to Tofino, BC where they spent the week hiking, whale watching and enjoying the spa.

The Prodahl family would like to thank Unit 47 at the TBCC Foothills Hospital for their excellent care while Debra awaited to be transferred to Foothills Country Hospice (Okotoks, AB). The care she received at Foothills Country Hospice was exceptional. She spent 5 weeks at FCH where she adored all her care providers, enjoyed the excellent home-made cooking, and spent her remaining time with all of her visitors. Each day she had a smile on her face. FCH made it very easy for Debra’s family to visit, stay over-night, and provide Debra with a lot of love and support. They made Debra’s family feel very welcome.

Her celebration of life will be held at De Winton Community Hall, 114 Macleod Trail E., De Winton, AB on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Debra and her family request that donations be made to Foothills Country Hospice (countryhospice.org) as everyone deserves the life-ending care they provide.
