Obituary for Debra Arlene Leece

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Debra Arlene Leece on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in Calgary, AB. Debbie is lovingly remembered by her partner, Pam Evans; her sisters, Angie (Wayne) and Wendy (Denis); brothers, Doug and Garth; nieces, Kaitlyn (Devan), Hailey (Chris), Kelsey and Ella as well as her nephew, Bryon (Chelsea); her feline friend, Loki and many, many friends. She is predeceased by her mother, Judy and her father, Allen.

Debbie was born on December 7, 1976, in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. When Debbie was 4 years old, she moved from Saskatchewan to Calgary with her family where she lived out the rest of her life.

Debbie worked her way up to a great career as a cost controller for oil & gas. She developed lasting friendships wherever she went as she was an incredibly likable person and had a knack for leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was goofy and silly and had the most contagious laugh. She was well known for her “Debbie moments”

Debbie was a lover of many things. Photography, trees, traveling, swimming, dragon flies, all things scented and much more, but one of her biggest loves was music. She had well over 7000 songs in her library from 1975 to Stevie Nicks to The Backstreet Boys. She attended well over 100 concerts and was a big supporter of local live music. She would often say that music saved her life many times.

Another one of her great loves was food. Good food wasn’t just eaten by Debbie, it was experienced and watching her fully enjoy a great meal was an experience in itself. Because of this love of food, she became an incredible cook. It gave her great pleasure to cook for other people. If you ever went out to eat with Debbie, you had better be prepared to take a lot of leftovers home because she couldn’t just order one meal, she had to try as many items as she could and would often order enough food to feed a small army.

Debbie’s passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of so many people. She will be sadly missed by a great many.

A Celebration of Debbie’s Life will be announced at a later date. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Debbie, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
