Obituary for David Louis Dufresne

David Louis Dufresne, 71, of Calgary, passed away at home on February 18th, 2021, with his wife and children at his side, after a long battle with cancer.

Dave is survived by his wife Elaine, his daughter Cheri (Darren), his son Daniel (Lisa), his sister-in-law Donna (Jack), his grandchildren, Shaley, Liam and Edee, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dave was born on July 22, 1949, to Louis and Sylvia Dufresne in Richmond, California. He married Elaine Sabo on June 3, 1972, and they spent 49 wonderful years together. They founded a business together, Done Right Sports, in 1980 and worked side-by-side for most of their careers. They were true life partners.

They had two children, Cheri and Daniel, but Dave was affectionately thought of as a ‘second dad’ to Jarrod, Harold, Alan, and many others.

Papa, who was often quiet and always patient, treasured the time he spent with his three grandchildren, Shaley, Liam, and Edee.

In his younger years, he was active and enjoyed skiing and cycling. He loved cars, dirtbikes, motorcycles, and camping. In his later years could often be found shooting at the target range.

Dave made the people around him smile effortlessly with his subtle, witty comments. He will be missed dearly by his family.

Dave was cremated on February 25th, 2021, and we will celebrate his life in the warmth of the summer sunshine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Dave’s obituary at www.choicememorial.com.
