Obituary for Darlene Eva Rider (Halverson)
Darlene Eva Rider
March 1st, 1953 – September 26th, 2019
We are saddened to announce the passing of Darlene Eva Rider, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Darlene was a beloved wife to Paul; mother/mother-in-law to James (Debbie), Melanie (Jeff) and Stephen (Beth); and Grandmother to Anna, Theo, and Odin.
Darlene will be lovingly remembered and missed by family and friends that stretch from the east to the west coasts of Canada.
She courageously battled both Huntington disease and breast cancer for many years and eventually succumbed to pneumonia, a common complication of HD.
We want to acknowledge the wonderful care and support she received from the staff at the Vernon Fanning Centre in Calgary, her doctor Annie Yau, and her Oncologists Dr. Sasha Lupichuk and Dr. Jeff Cao.
At Darlene’s request there will be no service, and in lieu of cards and flowers, donations can be made to The Huntington Society of Canada.
