Obituary

Darcy Vincent Scott
March 27th, 1958- February 14th, 2020

DUE TO THE CURRENT GLOBAL HEALTH SITUATION, THE SERVICE THAT WAS TO BE HELD ON MARCH 26, 2020 HAS BEEN CANCELLED. SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE. PLEASE WATCH THIS PAGE FOR FURTHER UPDATES.

The family of Darcy Vincent Scott received the sad news of his unexpected passing on February 14th, 2020. He was 61 years old.

Darcy is survived by his cherished daughter Sarah Scott, his mother Sylvia Scott; and his three siblings Shane Scott (Kim), Kelley Secord (Ian), Erin Howey (Neil). He is also survived by six nieces and nephews, Mitchell Stewart and Connor Scott, Keirstyn and Scott Secord, and Cameron and Madison Howey. He was predeceased by his father Wayne Scott in 2010.

Darcy was born in Hamilton, Ontario and was raised in the town of Greensville, Ontario. He attended school in Dundas graduating in 1976. He then attended the University of Guelph graduating in 1979 with a BA in Geography. Darcy moved west in 1979 to Calgary, Alberta, soon to start his career at the City of Calgary where he worked for 30 years as a Cartographer/GIS Analyst, retiring in 2013.

Darcy will be remembered for his love of cars, antiques, art, and riding motorcycles. Those who loved him knew that he had a passion for drawing and sketching, gardening, and participating in drumming circles. Darcy was a “tinkerer” and spent hours “puttering” in his garage fixing things. He was truly a handyman and his friends and family would recruit him for many different tasks. He took great pleasure in helping others. Darcy enjoyed riding his bicycle around the community of Seton where he lived during the last few years. Iced cream, Pepsi, and Reese’s peanut butter puffs cereal were some of Darcy’s favourite things to enjoy.

Darcy will be missed by his family and many friends, and memories of Darcy’s life will be cherished and held close to our hearts forever.

As Darcy always said...
“It’s always sunny above the clouds”
“Focus on the life that’s left, Not the life that’s lost”
“Namaste”

During my father’s time at Seton Agecare, Darcy became a good friend. He always took time to chat and laugh and frequently gave Dad trinkets and gifts. Thank you for your friendship Darcy!

To family and freinds , I am very sorry for your loss . My name is Rick Eleveld and was a good freind of Darcy in his high school years. I have been reminiscing about our time together. Back in the summer of grade 11 , Darcy had this uncanny ability of getting a car be it an old volkswagon beetle from an auto dealership where he worked part time or his parent LTD ( fortunately ,his parents did not have a tire tread guage ) .With help me rhonda on the radio Darcy , myself, Bill , Sarg , and a cast of other characters owned the summer. We had lost contact since high school but our great memories together surface in many conversations with old class mates. Darcy had a contagious smile , positive attitude , and he was just fun to be with. Thank you Darcy for creating and sharing in what would truely be the best summer of our lives. Rest in peace my freind.
