Damir Novak
January 14, 1966 - June 29, 2022
Damir Novak, beloved father of Tomislav Brian Novak and Thalia May Novak passed away peacefully in his home in Calgary on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the age of 56 years.
Damir will be loved and forever remembered by his two children Tomislav Novak (London, ON) and Thalia Novak. Survived by parents Zeljko and Julia Novak (Croatia) and brother, Robert Novak (Dubai). Missed but never forgotten by Alison Novak, Thalia’s mother.
Damir immigrated to Canada and started his own construction company. Damir’s hard work and ethics were evident in everything he did. His reputation in the construction industry was legendary.
Damir’s true passion besides his children was soccer. Growing up, attending Dinamo matches and following his team throughout Croatia was his love. Damir cheered louder than anyone when Croatia placed in the World Cup. Damir was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan, proudly sporting his jersey to all matches at The Saddledome.
Damir loved to talk politics, he was strong in his beliefs and defended his choices regardless of other’s opinions. Damir enjoyed celebrating with friends and was always the life of the party.
Learning to cook from his mother Julia, Damir was extraordinary in the kitchen. He loved cooking for family and friends. Traditional dishes were a favourite. Friends back in Ontario still rave about Damir’s culinary delights.
