Obituary for Cornelis "Casey" Plasier

Plasier, Casey (Cornelis)
March 22, 1934 – February 4, 2024

Casey passed away at age 89 quietly in his sleep on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

Casey is survived by sons, Wayne, Ron (Kim) and Kelly; grandchildren, Kris, Keenan and Deneh’Cho; his brother, Bart and many nieces and nephews. Casey was a father figure to, and loved very much by, his extended family; Sarah (Paul), Alex, Josh, Joyce, Sophie and Aimee. He was predeceased by his parents, Johannes and Maartje Plasier; ten out of 11 brothers and sisters; his grandson, Dylan Thompson; and stepson, Nick Bullock.

Casey was born in The Hague, Netherlands and was a young boy during WWII. After the war, he was anxious to get to Canada and initially settled in Edmonton where he met Katherine Olinyk. They were married and had three sons.

Casey was always a hard worker and held many jobs throughout his life. His greatest strength was with people and he held several sales and managerial positions. His people skills and caring nature also was reflected in his personal life where he had many friends. Casey lived in Nanaimo and Calgary for most of his adult life and spent several years in California. He eventually returned to Calgary and lived with his son Kelly since the summer of 2018. Casey also loved animals and music. His final years spent at Kelly’s was great for him because he was surrounded by family, friends, music and animals.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Casey's Life will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Calgary Centre for Spiritual Living (4411 Manitoba Rd SE, Calgary, Alberta).
