The first time I met Chris, my best friend Cole just moved back to Calgary. The moment I saw Cole back again in school, I wanted to hang out with my friend. But it had to be at their new place as we wanted to play the N64. We we're not able to hang out right away as the new house have to get set up. So a couple weeks go by and finally I get the word to come over! I arranged a pick up and drop off from my parents, but before that happened Cole explained that there was a gentlemen named Chris there too. And that I would be meeting him. I was young at the time and didn't understand the situation, but that didn't stop me from wanting to spend time with Cole. When I got to the door Cole was there to let me in, then I saw Angela, she introduced me to Chris. And he was scary. I felt butter flys, next thing I know though there was a huge smile, a laugh and he shook my hand. I went from scared to welcomed. Chris then said said that he was just about to leave to go get some blizzards from dairy Queen, and asked if I wanted one. I was stunned, never before has anyone asked me if I wanted ice cream from dairy Queen. I was so stunned with this development I didn't know what to say but ' ya', so when he asked what flavour I kind of stood there in silence unsure of what flavour to get because I've only ever seen my dad get mint Oreo. So I got mint Oreo.
Me and Cole went down stairs got on the console and played our hearts out till Chris got back. And when he got back, he had 5 large blizzards. Once again I was stunned and lost for words, it was the first time I've ever had a large blizzard for myself. I asked if me and cole where sahreing and he was all like no man it's all for you !! I felt like I couldn't show my gratitude enough so I just kept saying thank you, this whole thing is for me? And he was said somthing along the lines of yeah man! Enjoy it, it's all for you. It's no one's else's, and I remember how stunned I was, it made him laugh!! And it made me laugh. I've always had to share with my siblings so it was a true, magical moment. I couldn't finish the whole blizzard. But I ate enough to fill me up, and threw it into the freezer.
When the time came for me to go, he reminded me that my half eatten blizzard was still in there. And not to forget it. I grabbed it thanked him and the family for the generosity, and left happy, full, and with a warm heart, and a new outlook on life. When I got into the van I think my mom was a little upset that I had a whole blizzard for myself, I got home and my dad wanted some, but it sure he knew it was mine. I put it in the freezer so I can have it the next day.
But this memory of his generosity and smile, left a first impression that this kid will never forget.
There are too many good memories of Chris, from giving me a power bar that he got cleaning up houses from the flood, or giving me life lessons on life, but this one of a lasting first impression. Is most definitely the most memorable.
I'll miss his smile the most.
' you don't realize the impact someone's had on your life till they're gone'

Thanks for sharing Benton. When it came to ice-cream with Chris there was no small about it. I will never be able to eat Dairy Queen again without thinking about this. Angela

My uncle Chris always had a great sense of humour and he wasn’t afraid of “pushing” a joke to its limits. A good example would be when he pushed me fully clothed into a hotel swimming pool, with all my electronics in my pockets. After the initial shock I couldn’t help but laugh as he stood there smiling at me waiting for a reaction. He of coarse replaced my vape which was ruined from the water and gave me a change of his stylish old man clothes for the ride home. Love you buddy. Rest In Peace.
