Obituary for Christine Shirley Wilton (Anton)

Christine Shirley Wilton (Anton)
March 31, 1960 – March 2, 2021

After a very brief battle with ovarian cancer, we lost our loving mother on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the age of 60. Christine was born in Victoria, BC where she resided for the early portions of her life. She spent over 30 years in the Cowichan Valley, on Vancouver Island before she moved to Calgary, AB to be with her daughter and her family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Andrea (Mike) and Shannon (Andrew); her eight grandchildren, Kayla, Korrah, Aidan, Cohen, Kade, Janelle, Jayden, and Paityn; and her great-grandson, Draven; her siblings, Michael (Debbie), Catherine (Terry) and Danny; as well as her two nieces, two nephews, and countless extended family and friends. Chris is predeceased by her husband, David M. Wilton; parents, James F. Anton and Verna M. Pace (Cuthbert); and stepfather, Murdock G. Pace

Chris had many passions in life. Her love of card reading began many friendships that have endured decades. She was always the first to step in and lend a quiet ear and give support to all those she encountered. Her biggest accomplishment in life was her family. She was very proud of her daughters and all of her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all that were blessed to have known her.

She was surrounded by her daughters and care providers during her last days at Southwood Hospice in Calgary, Alberta. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support during this difficult time. We would especially like to thank the staff and care providers at the Peter Lougheed Hospital and Southwood Hospice, for their compassionate care. We will forever be grateful to the amazing health care teams that helped to care for her in her final weeks.

A Celebration of Chris’ Life will be held at a later date, when the family is able to gather together. In lieu of flowers, we ask that everyone bring awareness to mental illnesses and the illness that took her life, ovarian cancer.

Forever in our hearts and Always by our side.
