Obituary

KAMPLIN, Christine Joan

It is with great sadness that we announce Christine Joan Bill (nee Kamplin) passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 3, 2019.

Christine will be forever remembered by her devoted husband, Brad; sister, Marianne; father-in-law, Russell; mother-in-law, Linda Mae; siblings, Alanna (Brad,) Gord (Jacquie,) and Mark (Sherry), as well as her nieces and nephews and cousins, to whom she was a devoted and loving and protective presence; not to mention many extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her mother, Irene, and her father, John.

Christine believed in the power of education and spent many years as a Montessori teacher. She will be fondly missed by the many families whose children she taught and influenced.

Christine also believed we should all try to leave the world better than we found it. Her first instinct was always to try to help people - whether through her budding new career as an addictions and community support worker, or as an unwavering source of support for the people who leaned on her.

When she wasn’t working Christine brought her own unique spirit to everything she cared about, from her two cats, to putting a spin on her favourite recipes.

The family would like to thank the first responders and the staff of the Rockyview General Hospital, who all fought so very hard to keep her with us.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Christine’s life will be held on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11:00 am at Choice Memorial in Calgary. Immediately following the Service, a small reception will be held in the Choice Memorial Foyer. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 3:00 pm at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with her generosity of spirit, please make a donation in Christine’s name to a worthy charity of your choice.

I have known Christine for many years off and on, ever since she began working for MCHA. In the beginning, we were working at different campuses so we would only see each other once in a while. Later on in July, 2017, I joined her at Campus II, and we were both excited to be working together. She helped me so much along the way as I was learning this new position, she was always there to help me no matter what, and I was so thankful to have her to lean on. I must admit that I felt very sad when she left MCHA to go back to school and pursue her dreams, but at the same time I was extremely proud of her for taking that step into the unknown and a new adventure. I have no doubt that she would have been successful with her new endeavor as well, she was a very special person and I consider myself very fortunate to have known her. Now I will miss her terribly until we meet again.....Godspeed Christine!

Christine and I first met in Grade 4 at St. James school when we were 8 years old. We went through elementary, jr.High and high school together, and Christine was a constant part of my school day for 14 years. She helped me read the board in elementary when I suddenly needed glasses, and we had a lot of mutual friends together growing up. She will be sadly missed. I would like to send my condolences to her family and to anyone who will miss this amazing woman.

to Marianne and Christine's husband Brad and extended family members:
I had the privilege of teaching Christine in elementary school at St. James and several years later at St. Mary's High school where she was a devoted member of our choir. Her demeanor of being a very sweet and loving person did not change through those years. I remember her very fondly. How sad to loose someone so very young. i will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately we cannot attend her memorial service as we will be out of town.
Our heartfelt condolences to all. Leona and Bob Whitburn
