Obituary for Chris Edward Maier

On the morning of August 21, 2019 Chris Edward Maier passed away at the age of 66 years. Chris was born in Calgary, Alberta to Gustav and Urada Maier in 1952. As a young man he joined the Canadian Armed Forces Army Reserve Infantry unit, The Calgary Highlanders. After training and serving with them he moved to Bowden, Alberta where he farmed until 1980. He then moved to Vernon, BC. While there he joined the St. John's Ambulance and worked in Vernon until 1992 when he moved back to Bowden, Alberta. He was a long time employee of the Corps of Commissionaires in Olds, Alberta and lived in Bowden until 2018 when he moved to Airdrie, Alberta to be closer to his sister.

His greatest interest was learning European history and in particular the history of Scotland. He had a good sense of humour and made many friends over the years.

Chris was predeceased by his father in 1995 and by his mother in 2018. Chris is survived by his brother Calvin Maier and sister-in-law Ann of Kelowna, BC and his sister Katherina Ayriss (Roger) of Airdrie, Alberta as well as his many nephews and nieces.

The family would like to extend their grateful thanks for the loving care given to Chris over the past months during his stay in units 28 and 29 of the Peter Lougheed Hospital and unit 57 of the Rockyview General Hospital.
