Obituary for Carl Stanley Zelisko

Carl Stanley Zelisko

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Stanley Zelisko who passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side holding his hand on Monday, December 28, 2020, at the age of 80.

Carl's journey started on December 8, 1940 when he was born in Candiac, SK. He then moved to Cambria, AB, nine years later and then eventually relocating to Calgary in 1958. Carl began working at Burns Foods, where he met and ultimately married his love, Ella. When the Burns plant closed down in 1983, Carl changed his career path and started working for Canada Post for sixteen more years, after which he tried retirement. Carl could not sit idly by and enjoy retirement; so he decided to return to work for Stampede Lexus, until he officially retired in 2005.

Carl enjoyed his retirement years. Both he and Ella would travel. He loved going on cruises and was especially fond of his vacations in Cuba. Carl also enjoyed and looked forward to reading the Thursday sales flyers looking for deals.

Carl leaves behind, his wife of 60 years, Eleanor (Ella) Zelisko; his three, sons Darryl (Terry), Brendon and Carey (Leone). Carl also leaves behind his three grandchildren, Alanna (Kyle), Calvin and Jesse (Colleen); his great granddaughter, Brexleigh and his nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carl is now in heaven with his mom and stepdad, Kay (Tony) Mrowka; his brother, Ted (Hazel) Zelisko and his sister, Fran (Hank) Zanboer.

The family would like to thank all of the medical staff working in Unit 37 and Unit 36 at the Foothills Hospital (Special Services Building) who helped make Carl as comfortable as they could.

Due to current restrictions, a private Service will be held, limited to immediate family. A "Celebration of Life" will happen at a later date in 2021.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Carl’s memory, can do so by choosing the charity of their choice. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Carl, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
