Calvin David Oughton passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the age of 91. Cal was born on July 26, 1929, to Harry and Helene Oughton and lived his whole life in Calgary.
Cal was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings but decided to get an education instead of pursuing a career in hockey. He went to the University of Alberta and became a lawyer, practising law well into his eighties. Cal was very athletic and loved to fish and play golf with his family. His favourite hobby was collecting specialty items and sometimes even reselling them at his travelling garage sale.
Cal is survived and fondly remembered by his wife, Marion; children, Randy, Carolyne, Cheryl, Jason, Leanne and Heather; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and his sister, Donna. Cal is predeceased by the mother of six of his children, Joan; his brother, Morton and stepson, Brian.
