Brian Hugh Forrester passed away at the age of 72 years, outliving by decades his prognosis as the result of a tragic brain injury at the age of three. Brian was the second son born to Evelyn and Mel Forrester on September 21, 1947 in Regina, Saskatchewan. A very bright and joyful toddler, his future was altered dramatically when the accident occurred. Although non-verbal for the balance of his life, and with severe cognitive and developmental delays, he was an infinite source of joy, inspiration and adoration to his family, friends and caregivers. Brian was truly beloved by his sister, Judy Forrester of Calgary, his nieces, Savannah and Avalon Forrester, his many cousins, family friends, his roommates, and the cohort of angels who sustained him in every way, his amazing caregivers! The standard was set by Denise and Tanya, who loved him like family, and many others then and recently who contributed to his beautiful life. Brian’s mother, Evelyn, was his guardian angel throughout his life, until hers ended in 2005. She cared for and loved him without condition, without hesitation, protecting and nurturing him with infinite patience, kindness and warmth. She remains a constant inspiration to those of us who took up the torch caring for Brian in his latter years. Brian’s passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts and lives, and we are truly grateful for the gifts and blessings he bestowed upon us in his very special way. May you run freely in heaven, dear Brian.
