Betty was born Betty Garceau in Didsbury, Alberta on October 25, 1946, and after her father passed away. her mother remarried to Jack Kirby and she was soon adopted into the Kirby family and moved to Olds and then Calgary. She married and moved to Raymond, Alberta where she started a long 25 year career with the Bank of Montreal. She eventually transferred to Lethbridge, Alberta and then back to Calgary. In 1994 Betty was again transferred, this time to Red Deer to be with Hank Vanderhooft, the love of her life. She again transferred, this time with Hank to Winnipeg and Toronto. She retired in Toronto and eventually moved back to Alberta.

It was from Toronto that she started wintering in Corpus Christie, Texas and then Green Valley, Arizona. She made many friends and kept in touch with them until the day of her passing. Due to her failing health(COPD) over the years she could not travel south any more and she dearly missed the friendships she made there.

Betty was a caring, loving person who truly loved her children, grand children, and great children. She will be greatly missed by her partner, Hank.

She is survived her partner Hank, her 2 sons Clayton and Jamie, her daughter Jacqui, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brother Rick (Kathy) Kirby and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her and will miss her dearly.

Betty was predeceased by her father Tony Garceau, mother Louise Kirby, her siblings Dorothy Gushulak, Elaine Brackpool, Ronnie Garceau and Donna Bordeniuk. She was also predeceased by her grandson Matthew Vincent Peirens.

We would like to thank Betty's homecare workers, her family doctor Dr. Wilkes and her respirologist Dr. Lim who took excellent care of her.
