Obituary for John Lorenz

December 15th, 1956 - January 10th, 2020
It is with sadness we announce the sudden passing of John Lorenz, who left us on Friday, January 10th, 2020 at the age of 63.
John is survived by his two daughters and four grandchildren: Crystal Sage (Chris) - Aluna and Nelson, Dawn Schachtel (Kyle) - Oaklen, and Everly; and his five siblings Wally Lorenz, Tony Lorenz (Cheryl), Val Lorenz (Kim), Anna Gervais, and Judy Lorenz.
He was predeceased by his parents Anton and Marie Lorenz, and sister-in-law Lois Lorenz.
John was born in Wilkie, Saskatchewan and was raised on the family farm. He spent his younger days with his mom working alongside her in the kitchen, dairy and giant market garden, gaining skills that will be forever passed on through his family. John enjoyed very active school days participating in sports like hockey, football and soccer and a very lively social circle. As his life took him through Saskatchewan and Alberta while raising his family, his smile and way of making connections with people followed him. He settled in Stettler AB, where he enjoyed working as a computer engineering technologist; sharing his deep faith through scripture and became a well respected member of the community. John loved traveling to Vernon and Airdrie to visit his daughters and grandchildren as they were his pride and joy. A visit was never complete without a walk to the park, a game of cards, sharing stories and many laughs over a bowl of ice cream or a bag of black licorice.

A Memorial Service for John will be held at the Stettler Community Hall (5101-46th Avenue, Stettler, AB) on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:30 am.
