Obituary for Barry George Weeks
BARRY GEORGE WEEKS
June 20, 1951 – March 27, 2022
Barry Weeks, beloved husband of Carol Weeks of Rocky View County, Alberta, passed away at home on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the age of 70 years after a fierce 2 year journey with pancreatic cancer.
He was the loving father of Erin Strandberg (Seann) of Calgary, AB, Kristine Weeks (Greg) of Airdrie, AB, Stephen Weeks of Airdrie, AB, - children of Barry & Theresa M. Weeks. He was also the loving stepfather of Christina Hoffman (Cameron) of Magrath, AB, Anna Couillard (Chad) of Okotoks, AB, Jesse Prete (Rachel) of Calgary, AB, and Clayton Prete (Brittany) of Okotoks, AB. Barry will also be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by 14 grandchildren, one beautiful great granddaughter and all extended family. He is survived by his twin sister Beverly (Don) Schatzke of Calgary, AB. He was predeceased by his mother, father and his dear sister, Evelyn.
Barry was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and grew up in Orion, AB and went to school in Manyberries, Alberta. Barry completed his degree in Geology after high school and worked in that field until his retirement in 2019. He was a member in good standing with APEGA.
Barry loved his children, step children and grandchildren dearly and was absolutely delighted to meet his beautiful great granddaughter.
Barry enjoyed mechanical work and greatly valued the time he spent working with his son and step sons – using the ability to diagnose, fix and teach himself and the boys how to do the work.
Most of all Barry loved woodworking. He created beautiful furniture and had a wonderful eye for design. He and his wife, Carol, worked together as a team, creating beautiful spaces for themselves and many others. His plan was to continue doing that for many years to come. Barry loved to go camping and traveling with his wife and children and did exactly that at every opportunity.
Barry was loved by everyone that met him and he will be sorely missed and never forgotten. We love you dear.
