Nordquist, Barbara Ann

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara (Barb) Nordquist on Saturday, August 8, 2020. We lost our beloved Mom at the age of 71. Surrounded by her family, Barb lost her battle with cancer at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Barb was the beloved wife of Barry for 51 years, and the loving mother of her children, Frank, Cori, and Cheri. She was the proud grandmother to four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Phyllis Nicoll of Cochrane Alberta.

To the rest of the world, Barb was a retired nurse, avid knitter, Blue Jays Fan, and recreational pilot. She had a great passion for NASCAR. Barb and her weekend warrior buddy, and partner in crime, Brian watched every race together. Barb, along with her daughter Cori, and granddaughter, Tessa made costumes together and participated in Calgary’s Comic Expo parade in the past few years, she found more joy in this then she had expected.

To Barb’s family she was everything - no matter the problem she was the best source of advice or the first person you called when something ailed you. She was the first person you thought of when you had good news to share. She was the one to always tell you like it is and put you on the right path.

She was our Doc in our wild band of Dwarfs, our leader in our adventures, and our confidante. We will all miss her laughter, her infectious smile, her free spirit.

We were always in her heart and our needs always came before her own. We have all lost a huge part of our lives and we will remember her forever. She will be missed tremendously.

A Celebration of Barb’s Life will be held at a later date. Service information to be updated. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Barb, please visit

Love Never Dies.
Don’t weep at my grave,
for I am not there.
I’ve made a date with a butterfly,
to dance in the air.
I’ll be singing in the sunshine,
wild and free.
Playing tag with the wind,
while I’m waiting for thee

Mom, you were not only a loving Mother but also a great friend not just to your own Family but, to all those around you, both my friends and the rest around you. Your caring warmth and loving smile made you what you were and isbeing carried forward by myself and the rest of the Family. You weren't afraid to tell it like it is. Lord knows you had to set us straight a few times lol.. I will truly miss you mom. Your Grandchildren were always in your eyes, sadly the Great grandchildren will never get to know you as we did. Liane, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and I will miss you deeply.
Your smile, your smartness lol. You were always there when I needed help. You have the biggest heart that I've ever seen. Until we meet again mom, I love you dearly and will miss you more than words can say.

Your Son, Frank

I’ll always remember her caring nature, her amazing smile and her laugh. She always showed such compassion and love towards our family. Her and Barry were pivotal in our healing when we lost dad in February. We will miss her so dearly ❤️
