Obituary

Audrey Doreen Zielsdorf
May 19th, 1930 - November 22nd, 2019

Audrey was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, to Roy and Annie Cuthbert. She was the eldest of six siblings and is survived by four; Jean, Shirley, Jonathan and Patricia. They were predeceased by their brother Robert in 1987. Audrey married George Zielsdorf in 1948 and they raised their family of two sons, Gregory and Wayne, in Edmonton, Alberta. George passed away suddenly in 1977, leaving a great void in Audrey’s life.

As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Audrey was firm in her faith from the time of her baptism at 10 years old, until her death. George and Audrey spent their first years of marriage in Quebec in the full-time ministry, preaching during difficult times. Teaching others Bible truths brought great joy to Audrey throughout her life. One of those Bible truths was the hope of a resurrection, the hope Audrey now awaits. “If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes. You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.” —Job 14:14, 15.

Audrey will be greatly missed by her family and friends but especially by her sons, Greg’s wife Dawn and their children, Amber(Curtis Mills), Ashley and Shane(Jade).

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 29, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 9110 Fairmount Drive SE, Calgary Alberta.

We have fond memories of Audrey in the study group meeting at our house for 20+ years. Her steadfast faithfulness and regularity for theocratic activities is well known and appreciated. She was a Rosslyn fixture for decades. Her unwavering love for her husband always touched us even though we never met him. We constantly teased her about her orange (NOT ORANGE, BURNT SIENNA RED!) car. Her butter tarts and cinnamon buns made us happy so many times. Lots of love to all of her family as you grieve, but we await with you when she'll be healthy and strong again, ready to fly down the highway in her fast car!

I always viewed our dear Auntie Audrey as part of our family that grew up on the farm at Hillmond, Sask. Our father Andrew had Audrey come to the farm and help with the raising of 3 young boys at the time, John (now deceased), me Ted, and Ed, after our dear mother Margaret (Zielsdorf, Uncle George Zielsdorf’s older sister) passed away because of an accident when she was a young girl. Audrey always went to the meetings together with our family at the Kingdom Hall in Lloydminster, and went out preaching together as a family. What a joy it will be when Jesus will say: “Come on out, Audrey!” and we will welcome all our dear family together again on a paradise earth!

We lived a block apart for several decades, enjoyed holidays together, and happily served Jehovah in Edmonton, Rosslyn congregation together. We shall be together soon, just around the corner.
