It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Mother, Audrey Johnston after a long battle with COPD. She passed away at the Rockyview Hospital, with family around her, in the early hours of March 13, 2021. Audrey was 91.
We would like to thank all the staff of Unit 71 palliative care who made Audrey’s last days and hours comfortable and who treated family members with great compassion. We will remember your kindness always.
Audrey was a beautiful soul who was easily liked by all she met. In spite of a difficult childhood, she lived her life with great love for family and community. Audrey was born on May 19, 1929 in Kitchener, Ontario and lived with her husband William in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Montreal and Calgary. Her husband passed away in 2001. She spent 40 years in the Parkland area of Calgary and she loved to walk her dog along the ridge.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (David) and Lynn and her son Paul. She is going to be missed deeply. Our family is comforted by the belief that we will see each other again one day.
A Celebration of her Life will be held in April or May when COVID concerns ease. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to a hospital palliative care unit or a hospice. The work they do is very special.
