Obituary for Anubhav Chaitanya

Anubhav Chaitanya
October 23rd, 1980 - Friday, March 5th, 2021

God calls the ones he loves the most, sooner rather than later. Anubhav Chaitanya has passed away on Mar, 5, 2021 at the age of 40 due to brain cancer. He is survived by his wife, Varuna; mother, Vijay; father, Deepak; brother, Vivek and his heart’s embodiment, his daughter, Sophia.

He came into this world as a force and lived his life like one too. Unparalleled in his love, compassion and zest for life, he leaves behind a world of countless many who love him. Those who had the privilege and honour to be in his company can agree that he was the life of the party, the lead dancer, witty comedian, splendid singer, and the hardest worker who exuded a genuine infectious enthusiasm that left you warm, happy and speechless.

Born in Oslo, Norway on October 23, 1980. The younger of two brothers, he had to tag along with his parents who decided to move to Canada when he was about one year of age. Raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada he would persevere through life’s challenges maintaining a kind, humble nature and turning into a lovable gentleman with a boisterous laugh.

Besides excelling at academics he became an ardent sports fan. From soccer, hockey, football, wrestling, baseball, golf, even cricket, to his favourite, basketball. He would become an encyclopedia of sports statistics. He would relish being in Calgary proudly wearing an Edmonton Oilers jersey. A fun spotlight always followed him where he went.

On top of this, he, thanks to his dad, developed a massive passion for cinema of various languages. He was always ahead of everyone as to what came out, what the best movie out is at the moment and what was forthcoming before common knowledge. He developed a passion for superhero and thrilling movies. His daughter and wife enjoyed the fun of movies and he would make an invaluable weekly pastime where he would take them for the thrills at the cinema.

From the past times spent at enjoying events of socializing, weekend family parties, public speaking, and having fun with the people, he was ordained to become a very successful lawyer. If that was not enough, he pursued an EMBA to increase his pedigree. No one could argue that he loved his career.

He was the best son, brother, father, husband, inspiration and friend to so many. In countless social circles he dawned many nick names. From Dizzy, Fuss Master, Notorious D.I.Z., Theo, Charlie’s Angel, AC Slater, Superman, Dizzy the Hanuman, He-Man and to his best BATMAN. This last one thanks to his brother. His mom unwittingly put him on a path of painting himself as she had taken him for his first tattoo. Over the course of his life he was an actor-chameleon that could change his size, shape and appearance to whatever his mood fancied. From debonair-tuxedo-class sophistication to his massive size of a tattooed strong man.

All anyone could do when the glowing light named Dizzy entered a social arena was to stand back, watch in awe, pride, excitement, wonder and feel happy. His charisma, public speaking, humour made him into a brilliant attorney. But this was not enough. He volunteered with Bharitya Cultural Society, Alberta travel board and Habitat for Humanity. He was garnered love and praise, left, right, center from so many across the nation. Spending time with Habitat for Humanity brought him inspiring sense of purpose. He relished this and thrived in it.

Yet sadly God came calling. Anubhav completed so much in such a short time. He truly became super human. This news shocked the worlds of so many of his family, friends and colleagues as it has rocked his home.

All that know him would agree that he would never want any to feel sorrow or pain. He would go the extra mile to spare anyone any hurt, to lift their spirits and put a smile on their face. His soul has joined the great beyond and is undoubtedly making God laugh. To truly honour Anubhav ‘Dizzy’ Chaitanya, you must remember him as the unbridled energy of love and humour.

Our world has lost a gift but will be remembered forever.
