Obituary for Annie May Nichol

Nichol, Annie May (Anne)
June 16, 1923 New Brunswick
October 12, 2019 Calgary

Early Years:
Anne came to Alberta with her family in 1928 at the age of 5. Since her father was a minister, she lived and grew up in many different communities. Anne finished high school shortly after the onset of WWll and, as a result of so many men volunteering for military service, she was needed to become a teacher. After the war, Anne continued teaching and attended the University of Alberta during the summers to work toward her degree.

Family:
In 1961 Anne married her husband, Jim. Shortly after their marriage, a son, Robert and a daughter, Margaret arrived. In the fullness of time, they were joined by grandsons, Matthew and Mackenzie. In 2019, Anne and Jim celebrated 58 very happy years of marriage.

Anne grew up with brothers, Arthur, George, Ralph and Ira and her sister, Alice. All of them predeceased her. She had many nieces and nephews whom she always remembered on their birthdays and at Christmas in their younger years.

More about Anne:
Anne loved signing. She took great pleasure in being in the choir at Grace Presbyterian Church over a period of 52 years!

Anne was also a great lover of fabric and wool which she turned into beautiful garments and remarkable sweaters.

As a person, Anne was capable, strong, determined, fiercely loyal, loving and giving. She also possessed a wonderfully sly sense of humour which was always on target, a characteristic she inherited from her mother.

Funeral Arrangements:
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1009 – 15 Avenue SW at 1:30 pm.
