Anne-Marie Chorney
July 9, 1952 - March 13, 2022

Anne-Marie Chorney, of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2022 at the age of 69 with her family by her side after a battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibroses.

She is survived by her Husband, Richard Chorney; son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Janeth; step-granddaughters, Sarah and Katie; brothers, Alan, Carl and Paul, as well as her nieces, Michelle and Emily and nephews, Greg, Jason, Brian and Mark; daughter, Allison (estranged) and granddaughter, Lilly. She was predeceased by her parents; Vincent and Mary DeRocher and her brother Michael."

Anne-Marie was born July 7th, 1952 in Toronto, Ontario. The lone daughter and the fourth of five children born to Vincent and Mary DeRocher having been preceded by her brothers Alan, Carl and Paul and not far ahead of her baby brother Michael. A child who enjoyed to sing and explore, by her early 20's Anne-Marie made the courageous decision to relocate from Toronto to Vancouver in search of something new, exciting and different. Not long after her arrival to Vancouver she met her husband to be, Richard Chorney. The two were married August 7th, 1976, and in 1980 welcomed their son, Kevin. Shortly thereafter the family re-located to Kamloops, BC. The family then made their way to Calgary in 1985 where Anne-Marie enjoyed many years as a devoted mother, having fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming just that. A Red Hat Society member, her kind way, compassion and deep empathy easily drew others to "Annie" as she formed many genuine and loving, long lasting friendships along the way. A playful and funny woman of great intellect, as she matured, she enjoyed meaningful conversation that carried well beyond the superficial. Anne-Marie was as tough as nails with a gentle touch, not afraid to think beyond the norm to problem solve. She was an animal lover, a talented painter, a fiercely loyal friend, an incredible wife and an amazing mother. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
