Obituary for Anita Cabalitasan Ricardo (Ricardo)

Anita Cabalitasan Ricardo
March 19th, 1948 - December 5th, 2019

Anita Ricardo (Also known as Tita Babes and Lola Bebs) was born the youngest in the family in Manila, Philippines to her parents, Zacharias and Isabel Ricardo. Anita passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of Thursday, December 5th, 2019. Although it is sad to announce her passing, she is finally free from 14 years of struggle with kidney failure and her recent diagnosis of metastatic cancer.

Anita was predeceased by three of her siblings, Clarita Buccat, Renato Ricardo, and Ricardo Ricardo. She is survived by one, Socorro Francisco. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her nephews and nieces: Arturo (Lani) Buccat, Caroline (Carlito) Soliman, Edraline (Raymund) Lalic, Lourdes (Michael) Pineda, Robert (Daisy) Buccat, Florita (Alfredo) Madrigal, Felizardo (Juvy) Fransico, and Eli Ricardo. Her grand-nephews and nieces: John Mark Buccat, Arianne Buccat, Briana Faith Buccat, Carlene Soliman, Carlo Soliman, Carvinne Soliman, Hazelynne (Marc) Bernardo, Abigail Pineda, Sophia Pineda, Daniel Buccat, Hannah Buccat, James Ryan Madrigal, Ian Madrigal, Cedric Madrigal, and Bea Francisco.

Anita lived life unselfishly, serving God passionately and dedicatedly through her gift of service. Being single, her life revolved around taking care of her nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and
grand-nieces. She migrated to Canada from the Philippines in 2002 and has made it her home since.

Her favourite verse in the Bible, which is engraved in her heart, is John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Anita is a firm believer that she is eternally secure because of Jesus!

Anita’s family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at the Carewest Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre and the Dialysis Unit both at Scarborough General Hospital in Ontario and Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, for all the care and compassion they provided Anita over 14 years in total. To all her friends in Toronto who not only took her in, but have taken care of her and treated her as family, and finally to the Filipino Community Christian Church that served as her church family in Calgary, Alberta.

Memorial Services will be held in Canada and Philippines. In Canada, it will be on Saturday, December 14th, 2019 at 5:00 pm at 451 Northmount Baptist Church (451 Northmount Drive, NW Calgary, AB). In Philippines, it will be held on December 20th at 9:00 am at Eternal Peace Cemetery (Dau, Mabalacat, Pampanga) where her remains will be buried.
