Obituary for Allan Wayne Johnson

Allan was born in Calgary and passed away peacefully at his home near Water Valley. Allan was predeceased by his mother and father, Ruby and Joe, in 1981. He leaves to mourn six children: Candace Johnson, Ginger King, Trinda Johnson and her partner Theron Blackmore, Alesa Johnson, Nathan Johnson and Miranda (Matt) Broadist; two sisters: Linda (Cec) Lukenbill and Sherry Johnson; six grandchildren: Garrett, Wyatt, Raven, Edleenna, Nitika and Jaida; and special cousins Marie (Ken) Burden and Marlene (Leo) Bouchard.

Allan lived a full and interesting life. Upon graduating from high school, Allan came home and announced he was joining the Royal American Shows travelling midway and off he went on his summer adventure. Two months later he couldn’t wait to get home - and oh the tales! After that Allan’s lifelong mechanical inclination led him to his next venture as an auto mechanic. However, the bulk of Allan’s career was spent at Calgary Transit where he served for over 30 years as a dedicated employee. After retirement from Civil Service, Allan became bored, so he returned to another kind of life on the road driving semi-truck and finding it very much to his liking. In addition to his other careers, Allan also farmed, which covered a span of 30 years.

As a young boy, Allan was an industrious prankster, a skill he exercised throughout life. Allan will be remembered for his happy disposition, love of family, passion for farming/the country life, and a sense of humour.

A Celebration of Allan's Life is to take place on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 1:30 pm, at The Royal Canadian Legion (114 5th Avenue) in Cochrane.
