July 7, 2000 - April 2, 2021
It’s with a broken heart that I announce the sudden passing of my dear son, Alfredo Rafael Jerez on April 2nd, 2021 at the age of 20.
Alfredo, I am a better person because of you. You are my first love and part of my heart and soul. I give thanks to you for being my son and to God for giving you to me. We could talk about anything and you always understood me.
Alfredo was born in El Salvador, and we moved to Canada in February 2002. You were a healthy young boy going to Sundance School, then onto Centennial High School and graduating from Discovery Choices school in Calgary.
Throughout school you attended karate class and swimming class and I always enjoyed watching you. But it was your guitar lessons that led to your hobby of writing and singing rap songs that brought you joy.
Growing up you enjoyed being in nature. It made you happy, especially swimming at beaches in El Salvador and California.
Alfredo, you are in forever in my thoughts and the heartache I feel runs deep through my soul. Your friends have such kind words for you and I thank all my family who were there for you. I’m especially thankful to my Aunt Lolita and Uncle Joaquin in El Salvador who were excitedly awaiting your arrival to visit them on your upcoming trip.
Alfredo touched our lives in many ways and was a good friend to many, and a loving son to me. I miss you my dear boy, and if you walked through the door today I would grab hold of you and never let you go.
Alfredo is survived by myself, his mother, Sorayda Arevalo and step-father Javier Gutierrez; his grandmother, Sara Ruth Lopez; grandfather, Marcial Arevalo; Aunt Laura Angelica Arevalo and his Uncle Marcial Alberto, along with many loving cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his Uncle Alberto Arevalo, and his dear friend Owen Tracy Buhl.
I pray to God for strength to move through this world without you but know you are now at peace, and rest with God.
