Obituary for Alexander Matlo

Matlo, Alexander (Alex)
September 14, 1933 – July 1, 2020

We sadly announce the passing of Alex Matlo at the age of 86 years. We are relieved that he no longer suffers here on earth but is now with God.

Alex is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Wanda; his son, Aubrey; daughters, Michelle (Nick) and Corinne (Larry) and six grandchildren, Colin, Kayla, Emily, Niko, Dominik and Stephanie. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Maria Matlo; stepmother, Antonia Matlo; brothers, Stanley, Joe, Steve and George; stepbrother, Tony and brother in-law, Chuck Kitella.

After 36 years of service, Alex retired from the Engineering and Waterworks Department with the City of Calgary. Alex and Wanda enjoyed many years of travelling and vacationing as ``snowbirds`` in Arizona.
Alex was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. To his family he passed on his passion for farming and gardening, joy of camping, and his love of hunting and outdoor pursuits.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Moses Ovakporaye of East Hills Medical Clinic for his continued friendship and care of Alex over the years. We would also like to acknowledge the staff at the Prince of Peace Harbour for their care of Alex during the last year of his life.

A private Family Service will be held. If so desired, donations may be made in Alex’s memory to The Alzheimer Society of Calgary, 7015 Macleod Trail SW, Calgary, AB. T2H-2K6 or to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
