Obituary for Albert Carl Sadowski

Albert Sadowski
November 1, 1935 – May 16, 2023

Albert Sadowski, 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta with his family at his side. He is survived by his son, John (Janelle) Sadowski; grandson, Jonah Sadowski; granddaughters, Cassandra (Caleb) Coverdale and Caitlin (Adam) Abughufa; and great grandson, Miles Coverdale. Albert was predeceased by his wife of 27 years, Lorraine (Lori) Sadowski (Patryluk) in 1998; his parents John and Wilhelmine; sister, Erika; and brothers, Bernhard and Walter.

Born on his parents' homestead in Saskatchewan, Albert grew up as part of a traditional settler family. He began his working life as a cowboy for a neighboring ranch, earning $4 per day. Later, he worked on the telegraph line before embarking on a nearly 60-year career as a truck driver.

Albert's deep faith in Jesus inspired a genuine and compassionate spirit, leading him to help countless individuals throughout his life. This legacy of faith has been passed on to his family and will continue to resonate for generations to come. Albert greatly valued the church communities he was involved with in Poplar Point, Winnipeg, and Georgia.

In his later years, Albert volunteered as a chaplain for Truckstop ministries in Georgia, where he considered the members of the profession his brothers. He also had a passion for writing and self-published his book "Hey Trucker, Where Ya Head'n" in the 2000s. The book is a combination of memoir, testimony, and an instruction manual for navigating life as a truck driver. In the concluding pages, titled "Why I Believe," Albert writes: “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the bible is the word of God. It is our instruction manual. It gives you all the information you need to look after yourself, your families, and how to get along in this world. I have accepted Jesus Christ as my savior. I could never presume that I would be worthy of going to Heaven because of any good I have done. The only way that anyone can be worthy is is by Jesus Christ cleansing us by taking our sins upon himself.”

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Albert’s memory to Truckstop Ministries.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 1:00 pm at C3 Church – West Location (91 Commercial Ct, Calgary, AB, T3Z 2A5).
