Obituary for Albert James Curtis

Albert Curtis
August 18th, 1941 - Thursday, January 5th, 2023

Albert Curtis, beloved husband of Judy Curtis of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on January 5, 2023, at the age of 81 years.

He was the loving father of Sheri (Stuart) Anderson of Calgary, AB; Keith (Krysta) Curtis of Grande Prairie, AB; Kelly (Sarah) Hluchman of Chilliwack, BC; and Bernard (Belinda) Hluchman of Mission, BC.

He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Sara Anderson, Brian Horwood, Mary Anderson, Tegwyn Curtis, Solveig Curtis, Faria Hluchman, Aeris Hluchman, and Erielle Hluchman; his siblings Lorraine Gurski and David Curtis; and his many nieces and nephews.

Albert was predeceased by his parents Frank and Rose (Klisko) Curtis; his brothers Edmund, Robert, and Barry; and his sisters Margaret and Myrna.

Albert was born in Yorkton, SK, and raised in the Jedburgh area. He was the second oldest of 8 siblings. He relocated to Calgary where he worked as a dock foreman for Consolidated Fastfrate for many years. He eventually moved to Edmonton where he managed several apartment buildings. In Banff, Albert and Judy were staff accommodation managers at the Rimrock Resort Hotel, and later were managers for the Parkridge Estates Mobile Home Park in Calgary. Albert also lived in Grande Prairie where he worked as dispatcher for Mayne Towing, and eventually retired in Calgary.

Albert enjoyed the outdoors – snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a great handyman - painting, building decks, and self-taught plumbing and electrical work.

He enjoyed travelling - road trips, a Mexican cruise, and all-inclusive resort holidays.

He is remembered as a “collector” of pins, hats/caps, jackets, and cameras.

One of Albert's greatest joys was spending time with his grandkids.

Any who wish to may make a memorial donation in Albert’s name to the Canadian Lung Association.

A Celebration of Albert’s Life will be held at his daughter Sheri’s home at a future date.
