Obituary for Albert Ernest Braun

Albert (Abby) Braun
March 12th, 1942 - November 3rd, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert (Abby) Braun. He passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary on November 3, 2019. His wife, Ann, was by his side as were his two daughters, Nadine and Serena. Albert was ready to meet Jesus and see the family members who went before him. As weak as he was, he joined in the singing of “How Great Thou Art” and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” just a day before his passing; his voice loud and clear and full of passion.

Albert was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan on March 12, 1942. Alongside his brothers, he was a mischievous young boy who enjoyed teasing his siblings on the farm. He left home at an early age and began a career in sales. He could sell ice to a polar bear! For many years, he owned and operated two shoe stores in Medicine Hat, Gardyne and Serana, before moving on to the modular home business in Calgary.

As a young man, Albert was an avid baseball player, water skier, golfer, hunter, fisherman, and camper. He had an unwavering love for the Lord, for music, and for his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years, Ann, his children, Nadine and Serena, and his three grandchildren Olivia, Griffin, and Grace.

Albert lived his life with passion and authenticity. His heart, although sometimes hidden under a tough exterior, was pure and true. He would do anything for his family, without question or hesitation.
