Kirkland, Richard “Rick” James Erwin
1953 – 2019

Rick Kirkland, beloved partner of Heather DeCoste, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019. Besides his loving partner, Rick is survived by his daughter, Sacha Kirkland; brother, John Kirkland (Janice); sisters, Judy Helgeson (Gordon) and Cathy Murray (Bill) and half sisters, Sharon Davies (Sean) and Jacquey Askew (Dwayne).

Rick was born at the Grace Hospital and lived his entire life as a proud native Calgarian, growing up in the Bowness area. Rick loved more than anything to be on the golf course and was known to never miss watching a Flames game. He was a passionate business owner and extremely proud of his Protech team. Rick also was a devoted partner, father, brother, uncle, friend and boss. He was a kind generous soul and loving dog owner to Spencer.

The family wishes to acknowledge the nurses, staff and volunteers at the Agape Hospice for all the care that they showed to Rick and his family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick’s memory to the Calgary Humane Society by telephone at (403)723-6000 or to CalgaryHumaneSociety

John and I met Rick up at the Tim Horton's on Elbow and Southland more than a year ago. Rick and Walter used to sit at their own table but everyone at out table would talk to them on a regular basis. Eventually Rick and Walter moved to our table and we were all lucky enough to get to know Rick on a more personal basis. Everyone at our table, about 8 of us, were all very saddened when we found out from Rick that he had cancer. It was a pleasure talking to Rick every weekend. Everyone who knew Rick will miss him a lot. My sympathy and prayers go out to his family. Debbie and John Davidson
