Obituary for Cathryn (Cate) Jean Cloak

CLOAK, Cathryn (Cate) Jean
January 2, 1952 - Regina, Sask.
April 5, 2019 - Calgary, Alta.

After a short battle with Cancer, Cate passed away peacefully at home, she was 67 years young. She is survived by her daughter Jessie Cloak (Calgary) and her Brother Neville Clark (Winnipeg).

Cate was an incredibly talented Vocalist. She began her music career in early ’67 in Saskatoon singing vocals for the All Girl Band, Sect of Soul. She moved on to Winnipeg to make music with the Home Cooking band, singing with the Bootleg Band, and was a common voice on the radio singing many jingles and jamming with Burton Cummings and The Guess Who on weekends.

She then became a Mother and headed for a new life out west. She entered University of Calgary as a mature student, receiving her Diploma in Psychology. This education led her to work with addictions and recovery for 16+ years at Renfrew Recovery Center. In spite of her career she still made music as often as possible. Playing throughout Calgary and area with many different bands. Cate lived a full and wonderful life. She will be missed dearly.

We would like to sincerely thank the Foothills Hospital, Dr. Lloyd Mack and his Surgical Team. Dr. Stephanie Muir and the Foothills Palliative Team, as well as the angel nurses on Unit 41B. You all do incredible work. Thank God for people like you.

In honour of Cates life, a Celebration of Life picnic and jam will be scheduled for later this summer.
