Tom was pre-deceased in 2014 by his loving wife Cathy (nee DesRochers), brother Donnie (Beverly) from Dieppe, NB.

Tom served in the in Canadian Army for several years, overseas and in Nova Scotia and Kingston, ON. He was very proud to be a Military Veteran and was very patriotic.

After his Military service Tom worked for the Solicitor General in Corrections. Tom had an extensive 35 year career with Corrections here in Calgary Spyhill Correctional Centre as well as up in Peace River.

He will be lovingly remembered as a generous, gentle man with a great sense of humour, and a talent for telling tall fishing tales. He loved the outdoors, a good family gathering and talking politics around the table.

A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to your local Royal Canadian Legion.

I worked with Tom at the Calgary Correctional Centre. He was dedicated to his work but also appreciated a good chuckle. The fire prevention efforts of "Sparky" Miller as head of the Health and Safety Committee still linger in my mind. He certainly loved to tell a good story and he did that with panache. He often spoke of coming out to visit us on the Island but unfortunately that was not to be. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. There will no be another like him.

Thanks Brian for your comments... Tom really loved getting out in the wilderness. It was hard for him in the last few years but he still tried... stubborn old goat lol Please stay tuned for service details.

I worked with Tom at Spy Hill for 3 years or so, in the early 90's. He always reminded me of my Dad, with a twinkle in his eye and a big laugh. He was easy to talk to and a really good story teller. My condolences to his family and friends. Trish Frederickson

I am extremely sorry to lose my loving brother, Tom, he was a very kind guy. Loved to laugh, enjoyed his life to the fullest, and will be sadly missed. As we Millers, live from B.C. to N.S., and there are five of us. We plan to celebrate Tom' life early this summer in N.B. God Bless Tom. With much love. Earl & Fran MILLER, Truro, N.S.
