Loretta Eleanor Darling
July 7, 1931 – January 26, 2019
Born on July 7, 1931 at Ribstone Farm, Loretta Eleanor Darling passed away at 4:05 a.m. on January 26, 2019 at the South Health Campus Hospital in Calgary. She was 87 years of age.
A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Loretta is survived by her children Donna Dolores Ariella Bergan, Jack Douglas (Gail) Darling, and Joseph Darcy Dwayne Darling; her grandchildren Dena Jo Durand, Cheryl Ann Darling and Shannon Marie Darling; and her great-grandchildren Brenden Georgie Gibson, Brianna Margaret Leita Eleanor Gibson, Rayden Joseph Chalifoux Darling, Lyvia Kensley Brown, and Luke Patrick Brown.
She is also survived by her brother Paul Wilde, and sisters Loise Gorley, LaVerna McFarland and Deanna Turcotte. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband James Reno Darling, parents Earl and LaVerda (Dolly) Wilde, brother Larry Wilde, grandson Darcy James Pattison, and sister Jacqueline Wilde.
Loretta grew up on a farm near Ribstone, Alberta and never forgot where she came from. In the 1940s, after moving to Edmonton, Alberta, Loretta met and married James Reno Darling. After James retired from the Army, they moved to Calgary, Alberta where three children were born to their union.
Loretta worked in security at the Calgary Airport, took a real estate course, and continued her education through university where she was an intellectually talented student. In her later years, Loretta travelled extensively in the United States making life more fun.
A breath-taking mosaic of the life she lived, Loretta may not be with us right now but the essence of who she was will always remain.
She was wonderful. And we shall miss her and love her with all our hearts. Meet you on the other side, Loretta.
