Obituary for Barbara Irene Engelman (Short)

Barbara (Bobbi) Irene Engelman (nee Short)
September 14, 1949 – January 24,2019 (Calgary)

Barbara (Bobbi) Engelman passed away peacefully on January 24th at the age of 69 years after a short battle with cancer.

Fun loving and happy, Bobbi’s positivity and laughter always brought light to everyone around her. Her happiest times were with her family, whether it was playing bingo, at the casino, around the dinner table or traveling to her favorite place in the world… Hawaii; she glowed with happiness when she was with her family. Her eye for making things beautiful came out in her careers as a hairstylist and in the bakery at Safeway, where she worked for 38 memorable years. When she wasn’t working or with her family she loved to spend time on Vancouver Island with her dear friend Danielle.

Bobbi will be lovingly remembered by her children, Thalia (Aaron) Gertzen and Tammi (Ric) Tait-Olszak; her grandchildren, Hannah, Riley, Lauren, Tyler and Danielle; her sister, Gayle (Terry) Wrigley; nephew, Cody Wrigley and his children, Mackenna and Kelton; niece, Alix (Troy) Bourque and her son, Sam; “Sister-cousin”, Donna (Udo) Errelat and her daughter, Brianna; “Sister-cousin”, Jackie Short (Wally O’Bryan); life long friend, Alice Gordon and countless other family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Clem Engelman (2011) after a beautiful 36 years of marriage; her step-son, Brent Engelman (1990); and her parents Shirley and Frank Short.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and tireless staff on Unit 54, and the Palliative Care Team at the Foothills Hospital for the compassion and care they showed to Bobbi and her family in those last days.
There will be a celebration of Bobbi’s life on February 9, 2019 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino(Sundance room).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Bobbi to The Alberta Cancer Foundation.
