Joanne Simpson
March 04, 1952 - January 24, 2019

It's with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joanne Simpson on January 24, 2019. Joanne is survived by her sisters, Lise and Lynn (Jipi); her daughter, Stephanie; son-in-law, Dwayne; grandchildren, Baillie, Meadow and Keagen. Joanne was predeceased by her husband, Don (Oct.10 2018) and her parents, Claude and Anita.
Joanne was born on March 04, 1952 in Montreal, Quebec. In 1972 Don and Joanne got married and moved to Calgary to meet up with her long-time friend, Linda of 51 years. Joanne had passion for baking and cooking, she always made sure she had something freshly baked when you came over. Joanne made sure that you never left hungry. Along side to Joanne's baking and cooking, she had a great love for dog's especially her Pomeranians. Joanne loved to read a good mystery book and would read many books in a day. She loved going out with her long-time friends for special occasions. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Extendicare Hillcrest for all their care and support during her short stay.

An Open House Celebration of Joanne's Life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Rundle Community Centre, 2409 - 50 Street NE, Calgary, AB.

Susan and I extend our deepest sympathies to Stephanie, Dwayne, Baillie, Meadow and Keagen on the loss of Joanne, mother, grand mother and mother-in-law. Her departure comes so soon after the loss of their father/grandfather/father-in-law. I also extend my sincere thanks to Dwayne's family who have been so supportive throughout this ordeal. Don and Joanne have been reunited in peace and are watching over us from the mantle. Sadness and the overwhelming sense of loss will in time be replaced by happy memories of them. We have had the pleasure of having the Simpson family intertwined with our family for around 15 years, Our son Dwayne Sereda married Stephanie and so her Mother and Father had also became a true part of our family. Every occasion we celebrated together Joanne brought her meticulously pride of baking with her and was deliciously devoured with great praise to her. We will have a spot in our family that will forever be only filled with their memories. As we move forward we will embrace you Stephanie as our own and do our best to hold you as you go through this grief . Thank you Don and Joanne for being a part of our family and for holding our grandchildren close to your hearts we will continue to love and support them as you have. Rest and be in peace Joanne I believe you will look upon with pride and joy as Stephanie and her family makes their way through their lives. As we all have our strengths and weaknesses with family beside us we can pull together and overcome our weaknesses. Let peace surround you Joanne.
