The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Shannon Madill can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

An adventure...

Shannon was always such a sweet, fun-loving, adventurous spirit, even as a child.

In July of 1999, a couple weeks after turning 10 years old, Shannon flew from Calgary to Toronto accompanied only by her big brother Brett, who was just 13 years old himself at the time.  Shannon and Brett spent a week with their Uncle Jim and Aunt Donna, going places like African Lion Safari and the Science Center.  Uncle Jim also made sure they learned how to build paper airplanes and how to cheat at card games!!  Shannon was ready to try any new adventure.  The only problem she had during the visit was at Canada's Wonderland because she was drawn to all the wildest rides but wasn't tall enough to go on them.

Shannon loved spending time with people and was always quick with a joke, sometimes a practical joke, to cheer or just entertain others.  She also cared very much about animals.  Every time she came to visit, as a child and adult, she would instantly make friends with our dogs.

Shannon, I was so proud when you were born and we shared our middle names of 'Heather'.  We were privileged to watch you grow into a warm, caring adult.  We are very sad and upset over the tragic circumstances that have taken you away from your family.

We love you and will miss you.
