Włodzimierz (Walter) Swiba
April 5, 1950 - May 23, 2023
Unexpectedly and after a brief suffering, Walter Swiba passed away peacefully, with his daughter by his side, on May 23, 2023 at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, at the age of 73.
Walter, born Włodzimierz, grew up in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1986. He enjoyed the outdoors - skiing, water skiing, boating, fishing, camping and hunting. He worked on rebuilding cars for most of his adult life.
Walter is survived by his wife, Teresa Swiba; daughter, Kasia (Greg) Dzieza; son, Olaf Swiba; granddaughters, Daria (Devon) Coates, Natalia Dzieza, Anastazja Dzieza, Rozalia Dzieza and Daniela Dzieza, as well as his youngest brother, Andrew Swiba.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rozalia Swiba and Wiktor Swiba, and two older brothers, Bogdan Swiba and Jan Swiba.
The family wishes to extend a thank-you to the staff at Clifton House where Walter spent his last nine years after suffering a stroke, and a huge thank-you to the staff at Unit 36 in Special Services Bldg of the FMC for their care and compassion in his last days.
Memorial service will be held at Choice Memorial Rocky View (243256 Garden Road NE, Rocky View, AB) on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1pm with urn internment and reception to follow.
