Obituary for Vukosava Kosic (Ignjatic)

Vukosava Kosic
June 24, 1943 - June 22, 2022

Vukosava (Vicky) Kosic was born to Mile and Spasenija Ignjatic in the town of Prijebljezi, Republika Srpska (Bosnia). She was the youngest of four siblings with a sister and two brothers. Living through harsh post-war conditions with her family growing up in Bosnia, Vukosava later moved to the town of Borovo, Croatia as a young woman. After getting married and giving birth to two boys, she spent several years working at the Borovo shoe factory with her husband Danilo.

Seeking a better life, Vukosava’s family followed her siblings path by immigrating to Calgary, Canada in 1971.

Once in Canada, Vukosava always worked hard to ensure a future for her family, often taking more than one job. She was always fun and full of life at family get togethers and ceremonies, with an infectious laugh and a warm smile that everybody loved. While she was able and healthy, Vicky liked to participate in social events like ballroom dancing, and she even competed as an amateur. She always showed kindness to the new people that she met and enjoyed helping out those in need.

Vukosava is survived by her ever-loving grandchildren who she called her ‘sun and moon’, Adam and Keith, also her sons, Goran and Zoran, and sister, Ljubica. She is predeceased by both of her brothers, Ranko and Branko.

Vukosava’s instructions to be cremated and buried back home where she was born in Prijeblezi, will be carried out by her family at a later date so there will not be a celebration ceremony as per her wishes.

In lieu of flowers you can donate to Parkinson’s disease research, or a charity of your choice. Vukosava suffered a long battle with Parkinson’s.

We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Brentwood Care, Calgary for the last couple of years that Vicky has been in their care. The family would also like to thank everyone all for your prayers and support during this time. Your shared memories, comforting condolences and gestures of love are truly appreciated.
