Obituary for Thomas Earl Owens

Thomas "Tom" Owens
December 29, 1947 - February 18, 2023

Tom was born in Ottawa to Eva and Earl Owens on December 29, 1947. He was a force in this world. He knew what he wanted and he achieved his goals with great success.

As an original member of the Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede, he launched a career with his smooth and magical voice. He was a regular on the Tommy Hunter Show for about 10 years and then has his own TV show with CBC. Tom met his wife, Shellie, in the Young Canadians. After they married in 1979, Tom started a sales agency selling home furnishings, and he ended his career as a real estate agent with Remax. He was an amazing salesman.

Tom loved to sing and tell jokes, golf and build houses. We enjoyed many years at Shadybrook in Windemere, BC and in Mazatlan, Mexico after Tom's retirement. He had a great life.

Tom leaves to mourn his wife, Shellie; son, Casey and daughter, Amy; sisters, Laurel Stanton and Margaret Walker and many nieces and nephews. Tom was very loved by Shellie’s extended family and will be missed.

Tom suffered from a rare debilitating neurological brain disease called PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). He was a warrior thru the last 4-5 years of this disease. The disease took a lot, but he never lost his sense of humour and big beautiful smile.

Farewell Memorial will be Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Tom & Shellie’s home from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. We will toast Tom and share memories. For details, please email TomOwensMemorial@gmail.com.
