Obituary for Teofil Priebe
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Teofil Priebe on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the age of 88. Teofil Priebe was born on September 25, 1934, in Zarubka, Poland. After the passing of both his parents, Teofil immigrated to Canada at the age of 14 along with his siblings in hopes of a better life.
Upon arriving in Canada, he stayed on his Uncle Rudolph’s farm before moving to Calgary where he would spend the rest of his days. On July 6, 1962, Teofil married the love of his life, Erika Briese, whom he had known since her birth. The two shared many adventures together over the course of 60 years of marriage. Teofil became a father to both Richard and Theresa (Troy), and later an Opa to Jennifer and Rachel.
He is survived by his only remaining brother, Otto (Linda) Priebe; three half-brothers who remain in Germany; brother-in-law, Guenter Rosin; wife, Erika; children, Richard and Theresa (Troy), and grandchildren, Jennifer and Rachel. Teofil was predeceased by his parents, Wilhelm Priebe and Ottilie Becker; as well as his siblings, Martha Rosin, Rudolf (Emma) Priebe, and Emmy (Ewald) Eichhorst.
Teofil’s smile, laughter and stories will be greatly missed by all those who had the honour of knowing him.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Choice Memorial (105, 4715 – 13 Street NE, Calgary, AB). A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Emmanuel Community Church (3003 28 St SE, Calgary, AB) at 10:00 am with a Visitation taking place prior from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Reception to follow. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB).
