Obituary for Stephen Michael Belenky
Steve Belenky, beloved husband of Cathie Belenky, of Calgary, AB, passed away on January 29, 2024, at the age of 71 years.
Steve grew up in Carstairs, AB, the youngest of 9 children. He completed high school then worked in the oil patch for many years before joining the City of Calgary. When he retired in 2010, Steve took a year for himself before joining Silverstar Courier or as we called it “drug trafficking” taking vaccines to out to rural areas.
Family was important to Steve, and he was happiest out camping, being around a campfire, or gathering with friends. Travelling included many places such as Mexico, Hawaii, Europe, and the Maritimes. Steve never wanted to be the center of attention but valued the important people in his life.
Besides his loving wife, Steve is survived by his daughter Megan, and son Craig (Kendra); Sisters Sandra, Mary, Martha “Micki” (Lyn) and a brother Lawrence “Laurie” (Betty); as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Sergei (Steve) and Pearl; Sisters Lena (Danny), Eleanor (Ron), Nell (Bob), and brother Fred.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street SE, Calgary, AB) at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Steve’s name to Canadian Cancer Society
