Through his earlier career, Stan managed parking garages in Calgary and Vancouver and later he went on to spend the next 27 years with Calgary Transit. During his time with Calgary Transit the 301 Route became his favourite and he was renowned for his wit and admired for his kindness by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

Stan was also recognized as a Chef and Grill man and often entertained his friends and family with Oysters Rockefeller, great fish and chips and teppanyaki cuisine.

Stan had many hobbies which included: golfing, billiards, target shooting, and fishing. He particularly loved fishing the Queen Charlotte Islands. A gifted storyteller, his signature being his use of colorful language. Stan kept in close contact with all of his family which included early evening phone calls to all his siblings. He was an integral part of all family events and he cared deeply about all those he knew.

Stan was not only an avid golfer, but he was also very proficient at the sport. Once he even won a hole-in-one prize of $12,000 of which he promptly donated a generous portion to charity.

Stan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and cherished friend to many. He was a proud father to Catherine and Steven; stepfather to Denise and Darnell and grandfather to Jenna and Ally.
Stan leaves behind the love of his life, Gail Lindsay, cherished siblings, Karren (Dennis), Tim, Cheryl (John), Dave (Barb) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his mother and father, Cas and Evelyn Hyciek.
