In Memory of Simon Henry Kratchmer
August 17, 1931 – June 19, 2022

After Simon's journey with living with congestive heart failure, he peacefully passed away at the age of 90, but we take comfort in knowing that he was able to pass in a place he called home.

Simon is survived by his three daughters, Colleen (Wayne) Witt, Shelley (Dan) Glatt and Sherry Kratchmer; five grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) O’Halloran, Miranda (Joe) Munoz, Jasmine Witt, Rachel Glatt, and Nathan (Daphne) Glatt; and two great grandchildren, twin boys Ashton and Jason. He was blessed to have support through his journey and his life from his brother, Jim Kratchmer. Simon loved all of his FAVORITE nieces and nephews.

Simon was predeceased by, and his life was enriched and made full by his parents, Joseph and Mary; sisters, Madeline and Pauline; brothers, Adam, Matthew, Peter and Leo; and grandson, Joshua Witt.

Simon was clever with his jokes, trying to make you laugh. He loved a good, playful, banter conversation with quick wit and humor. Simon was his own entrepreneur and liked being his own boss. Simon was born and lived on a farm near Reward, Saskatchewan. He moved to Calgary, he continued farming and raised pigs in Delacour, Alberta and owned and operated Sam’s Trucking business from 1954 to 1978. Simon also owned and operated a laundromat from 1973 to 1985. He had a restaurant for a short time and just before he retired, he worked as a warehouse assistant from 1984 to 1987. We will all miss him and his humorous ways dearly.

We are very thankful for the amazing care that our dad received daily from all the wonderful staff at AgeCare Midnapore in Calgary, AB.

A Celebration of Simon’s Life and Mass will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1525 – 45 Street SE, Calgary, AB). In lieu of flowers, please say an extra prayer for Simon when he comes in to your thoughts.
