Obituary for Shirley Anne Petitclerc

Shirley Petitclerc
October 11th, 1937 - Friday, July 10th, 2020

Shirley Anne Petitclerc (nee Smith) was born October 11, 1937 in Saskatchewan and raised in Ottawa. She made the big move to Alberta in August 1980. She is survived by her children Deborah (Derrick), Michael (Rose), Allan (Karen), Daniel (Joni), Dhana (Stephen), and Jennifer, as well as her 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren—soon to be 23. She is predeceased by her parents, Marie Meyers and Thomas Smith, and her brother, Robert Blais. She is survived by brother Wayne Blais and sister Dona Seymour. We would also like to mention her dear friends Ethel and Ann Marie, as well as many others.

Shirley is the true matriarch of a large and loving family. As a single mother to six children, she made many sacrifices so her children could thrive in Alberta. Her independence has always been a defining trait of hers, as well as her passion for both history and current events. Shirley's determination and passion for life has been passed on to her family who are truly going to miss her involvement in their lives. Her family describes her as intelligent, strong-willed, comedic, honest, and active.

We are thankful for our time with you. Rest easy and we will see you again.

Due to pandemic restrictions, a private family service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 1:00pm.
