Obituary for Sharon Mary Flamand

Sharon Flamand
September 14, 1962 – May 12, 2023

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Sharon Flamand on Friday, May 12, 2023at the age of 60 years. Sharon passed away peacefully surrounded by her mother, spouse, siblings, son and grandson, after her long battle with cancer.

Sharon was born in Winnipeg, MB, the middle child of seven to Norman and Genevieve Flamand. She grew up in Saint Laurant with an extended family of grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. The family moved to Calgary when Sharon was 13 where they settled in Montgomery. Sharon attended Saint Mary’s high school and then let her love of cooking and cleaning determine a career path to various positions where she excelled. Sharon was an extremely strong person in body, mind, and soul you didn’t want to get on her wrong side, fair but tough. She was a favorite of her late father and friend to all she met often offering help and advice.

She loved to ride her bike often for miles always with a purpose, a visit, chore, or appointment. Sharon although an exotic beauty both inside and out, never thought of herself that way, she was very religious, but on her own terms.

Sharon is survived by her mother, Geneveve; brothers, Alcide (Jenni), Raymond (Diane), and Claude; sisters, Diane Sten (Darrin), Vivian Combot (Claude), and Angline Parks; her spouse, Arnold Northcott; her sons, Christopher and Scott; grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces and her dog, Oscar. Sharon was predeceased by her father, Norman.

A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held in September.

“When a little blue butterfly
Soars in the sky.
It’s blue against blue that we see.
Although it may vanish
Our hearts know it’s there….
That little blue butterfly, peaceful and free
Within our hearts, the ones we love are never really gone….
….they live on in beautiful memories
When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little, but not for long and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love and memories that we once shared.
Miss me but let me go.”
