July 15, 2005 - November 26, 2022
On Saturday, November 26, 2022 Samuel David Buhler beloved son and brother passed away peacefully at the age of 17. He is survived by his parents, Gerald and Anhelia Buhler as well as his siblings, Karl, Brooke, Paul, Faith, Mark and Ian Buhler.
Sam was a gregarious young man who loved being out in the community and spending time with family. Despite his circumstances in life, Sam was always the most light-hearted personality in the room and he brought joy to countless people’s lives. These traits were a driver behind Sam’s Spirit and Humour Award which he received upon graduation from Harold Panabaker Middle School.
Sam was an enthusiastic reader with interests spanning from children’s fables to recipe books. Sam’s passion for storytelling drew him into performing arts beginning with Storybook Theater in Calgary. He landed a leading role at Grant Park Secondary School in Winnipeg MB. In fact, he was so excited to be a part of the production he checked out of hospital early after a major back surgery and went straight to the Gas Light theater to perform.
Sam had a love for Jesus from an early age that was cultivated in church. At Awana despite some intellectual challenges, he kept up with his peer group in learning/memorizing the scriptures. Sam was a good neighbor who cared deeply about helping his community and had dreams of marrying and starting an orphanage alongside of a gracious wife. He frequently connected with neighbors, assisting them with recycling, raking leaves, and keeping up with the waste collections schedule.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in his honor at Bethany Chapel, 3333 Richardson Way SW on Saturday December 3, 2022 at 2:30 with a reception in the lobby thereafter.
